LONG LONG DAYS
The Moon is moving away, at a speed of about 1.6 inches (4 centimeters) a year. Meanwhile, Earth's rotation is slowing down, lengthening our days. In the distant future, a day will be 960 hours long!
GROWING SMALLER
The Galapagos marine iguana (Amblyrhynchus cristatus),is the only vertebrate known to shrink in body size regularly when adult, and then to grow larger again. It is also the only sea going lizard. During El Nino weather events, they lose the bone mass and shrink upto 15% in the body length. The following year they grow again and, even larger then they were before shrinking.PARENTAL BEHAVIOR
Adult emperor penguins (Aptenodytes forsteri) attempt to kidnap the chicks of another breeding pair. They forcibly take the chicks from its parents. Kidnapping often occurs when a penguin that has failed to breed sees a chick begging its parents to be fed, and takes away the offsprings to parent it.
